Report: Tottenham want club to sign their ‘amazing’ player permanently, talks set to conclude deal this weekend
Tottenham are hoping they can convince AC Milan to take defender Japhet Tanganga off their hands on a permanent basis, according to Sky Sports.
Tanganga has been linked with a move to Milan for the past few weeks and is said to be keen for Tottenham to make sure the deal happens. He is said to have rejected a number of Premier League clubs in favour of moving to the Italian champions.
And despite talk of a loan move, reports today that Spurs want Milan to take the defender on a permanent deal, with talks expected to resume between all parties this weekend. Reports previously have suggested Tottenham would be looking for a fee of around £14m for Tanganga.
The defender broke into the Spurs side a few seasons back but has fell down the pecking order since Antonio Conte took over in north London. A move to Milan will appeal to the young defender, who will be inspired by seeing how well Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham have done since dropping the Premier League for Serie A.
Spurs are hoping to move a number of players out in the coming weeks after spending £100m on new recruits this summer.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Should Do Deal For Tanganga
It makes sense for Tottenham to get some money in the bank here. Tanganga isn’t going to play and there’s little point in him sitting around and waiting for an unlikely chance.
A move to Milan is a big chance for the defender to make an impression and get his career going again. Tanganga is a talented enough player, he’s just fallen by the wayside a tad in Conte’s revolution.
At the end of the day, if Spurs get around £15m here, then it won’t be bad business at all for a fringe player.
