Tottenham have now made contact to sign player West Ham sold for £2.6m

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur want to bring former West Ham United winger Felipe Anderson back to the Premier League.

That is according to TV Play, which has noted the hurdles that Tottenham are facing in getting a deal done in the January transfer window.

So, what has been reported about Tottenham Hotspur and Felipe Anderson? Let’s take a look.

Tottenham Hotspur linked with Felipe Anderson

Well, according to , Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Lazio winger Felipe Anderson. The report in the Italian news outlet has noted that Spurs have made contact regarding a potential deal.

However, there are two hurdles. Firstly, Anderson, who is at the end of the season, has Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus after him.

Milan want to sign him in the January transfer window, while Juve are keen on snapping him up as a free agent in the summer of 2024.

Secondly, Lazio could demand as much as €20 million (£17.18 million) in transfer fees for the 30-year-old in the middle of the season.

Anderson has made 13 starts and two substitute appearances in Serie A this season. The Brazilian has scored one goal and given five assists in those matches.

My View: Tottenham should avoid signing Felipe Anderson

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur should not sign Felipe Anderson in the January transfer window or in the summer of 2024.

I believe that Spurs need to take a look at the Brazilian’s time at West Ham United and back away from a potential deal.

Anderson was not a huge success at West Ham and had a loan spell at FC Porto before leaving for Lazio for £2.6 million in 2021 ().

The Hammers paid £36 million to Lazio for the Brazilian and sold him to the Italian club at a huge loss.

During his time at the Hammers, the winger scored 10 goals and gave eight assists in 63 appearances in the Premier League.

Anderson is 30 now. Although I can understand the merit of signing such a player on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, I do not see how he would make Spurs better or take them to the next level.

In my view, Tottenham would be better off spending a good transfer fee and bringing in a top player in their mid-20s who can develop and improve.
