Tottenham have now held talks about signing ‘very talented’ £43m defender in January

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign a new centre-back in January and have apparently opened talks about a deal to sign Jean-Clair Todibo.

Manager Ange Postecoglou is keen to strengthen his pack in January and sees a new defender as being a key addition.

Reports earlier in the day had suggested Todibo would be keen on joining Tottenham if they did make a move.

And according to a further report from tonight, Tottenham have indeed started discussions about doing a deal for the Frenchman.

Tottenham open talks over signing Jean-Clair Todibo

The report from FL claims that Spurs have started talks internally about signing Todibo and that he is very much a player of interest to the board and management team.

Todibo has been starring for Nice this season and has drawn admiring glances from Manchester United for those performances.

But it seems it is Spurs who are trying to get ahead of the rest by making their plans early and it’s claimed tonight that talks have already been held.

Tottenham may have to shell out some £43m to sign Todibo. The 23-year-old was initially on the books at Barcelona after leaving Toulouse but failed to make an impression in Spain.

However, since then, he has shone for Nice and there is a race on to now sign him.

Todibo to Spurs makes sense

Tottenham desperately need a new defender in January and the quicker they can get a good one over the line, the better.

Todibo clearly has quality and Arsenal favourite Aaron Ramsey has sung his praises in the past.

“Jean-Clair is a very interesting character; he’s very confident and he’s a great guy around the dressing room and he’s a very, very talented player, who can go all the way to the top. For him, it is important to keep his feet on the ground, strive for more, and take in as much information as possible,” Ramsay

Ange Postecoglou deserves backing in this window and it’s good for Spurs fans to see the board getting their prep in early.

Should Todibo sign, it would be a massive early window boost for the whole club.
