Tottenham have just signed a player that Jose Mourinho has deemed ‘amazing’

Tottenham Hotspur have announced their first signing of the summer transfer window.

On Tuesday, Spurs that Ivan Perisic had signed for the club on a two-year contract.

The Croatia international will become a Tottenham player on 1 July, when his Inter Milan deal expires.

Perisic had been on the Nerazzurri’s books since 2015, but took a loan spell at Bayern Munich in 2019-20.

He won the Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League treble with the Allianz Arena club.

At Inter, Perisic won the 2020-21 Serie A title under Conte, with whom he’ll reunite at Tottenham.

The 33-year-old also won the Bundesliga title and the German Cup at Borussia Dortmund in 2012.

“Fantastic in the air”

Perisic has made over 500 professional appearances at club level, and has won 113 caps for Croatia.

He helped his nation reach the 2018 World Cup final.

Perisic also won the man-of-the-match award in the semi-final win over England.

On that day, Jose Mourinho – who tried to sign Perisic at Manchester United – lauded the veteran winger.

“Perisic is the kind of winger that is different to the others,” Mourinho told RT, as quoted by .

“Normally you look at wingers and they are just fast and creative.

“But he is also physical, very physical. Fantastic in the air.

“So the way he wins that ball in the air [for Mandzukic’s winning goal] and puts the ball into that space is only possible if you are very, very physical and dominant over defenders.

“So he was amazing by going there and winning that ball in the air.”

Spurs could make it two signings in quick succession

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Perisic, and Fraser Forster could soon follow suit.

According to , Forster has agreed to sign for Spurs when his deal at Southampton expires.

He has already completed his medical exams, added the report.

Forster has clocked up nearly 450 competitive senior appearances at club level and has won six England caps.

He has won four Scottish Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and one Scottish League Cup with Celtic.
