Tottenham have just rejected £8.4m bid for ‘outstanding’ player signed in 2021

According to a journalist, Tottenham Hotspur have just knocked back a bid from a European club for a player they signed three years ago.

Ange Postecoglou could offload as many as 10 players this summer transfer window, so there’s expected to be a number of incomings, too.

Eberechi Eze and Pedro Neto are two players Tottenham are looking at, having already signed Timo Werner and Archie Gray.

To facilitate those deals, they’ll have to trade and it’s thought they’re in talks with AC Milan over the sale of a player.

In fact, a bid has just been rejected from the Serie A side.

Tottenham reject £8.4m bid for Emerson Royal

According to BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Tottenham have rejected an £8.4m bid from AC Milan for Emerson Royal.

The Italian outfit have been chasing his signature all summer but are unwilling to meet his £16.8m asking price.

The ‘outstanding’ defender, as quoted by , has already agreed upon personal terms with Milan and is desperate to make the switch.

In fact, Emerson even came out in a recent interview and made his desire to leave clear, citing that he wasn’t happy with his game time last season.

At this stage, Milan have made no further contact with Tottenham and it remains to be seen if they’ll return with a second and improved bid.

Daniel Levy driving a hard bargain

Daniel Levy’s hard bargaining is well-documented across the football world and he’s not prepared to budge on his price tag, here.

Emerson was signed in 2021 for a reported fee worth £25m, so he won’t want to bank a significant loss on the deal.

Though, it looks as if Levy is set to outprice Milan which isn’t ideal for both parties.

Emerson wants out and the last thing Postecoglou needs is an unhappy player in the camp, so perhaps it’s best to lower his valuation.
