Tottenham have just held discussions about signing £100m player who plays like Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur have discussed a potential move to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window.

Spurs have bounced back brilliantly after going five games without a win in the Premier League. They have now won three on the trot and look really strong. Reinforcements in January could take them to a whole new level, and Toney has been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham have discussed signing Ivan Toney

Tottenham are yet to replace Harry Kane after selling the Englishman to Bayern Munich in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou decided against going after a like-for-like replacement and instead moved Heung-min Son to a central position in the opening months of the campaign.

Richarlison has now taken up that spot, and he has been absolutely amazing over the last few weeks. However, many still feel Tottenham need to sign a new striker next month when Son will be away with South Korea.

have revealed today that Spurs, along with Chelsea and Arsenal, have discussed a potential move to sign Toney in the January transfer window.

The Englishman is expected to be a wanted man next month once he is eligible to play again after serving his ban. He is a fantastic player, and he would be a great fit at Tottenham.

However, the report claims that Brentford’s £100 million demand to sell their star man is expected to put off many suitors until the summer as that valuation is set to come down significantly then.

Ivan Toney can become Tottenham’s new Harry Kane

We’re not suggesting that Ivan Toney is anywhere near Harry Kane’s level, but the Tottenham-linked Brentford striker shares a few similarities.

The 27-year-old, like Kane, is a clinical finisher in front of goal, and he can also drop deep and link play up. He’s good in the air too and has already been compared to the Bayern Munich man by Arsenal star Declan Rice.

The midfielder told last year: “He (Toney) is kind of like Harry Kane in a way where he’s not only an out-and-out striker, he’s a playmaker as well – his left and right-footed passing, the way he picks out his teammates is a special technique to have.”

Toney would be a fantastic replacement for Kane at Tottenham, but whether they can afford him next month remains to be seen.
