Tottenham have just had £17m bid turned down for ‘amazing’ player after making progress with Archie Gray move

Tottenham have just seen a bid rejected for one of Italy’s finest players as progress is made in the meantime over a deal to sign Archie Gray from Leeds.

Spurs are expected to sign the 18-year-old after hijacking his £35m switch to Brentford, with some sources even suggesting a deal could have been finalised on Sunday.

Now – as talks with Leeds over Archie Gray continue – Tottenham have seen an offer for another player rejected…

Tottenham see Michael Kayode bid rejected

A sཧtory from in Italy now states that Tottenham have had a bid rejected by Fiorentina for 🌼Michael Kayode.

The Italy U21 international – who was also recently the subject ofဣ a bid from Aston Villa – has emerged to become one of Serie A’s best defenders, shining down the right of defence last season with a goal and four assists in 37 a♎ppearances.

Viola News believe Tottenham’s bid is around €20♒m (£17m) – although Fiorentina want at least £21m to sell Kayode this summer.

Speaking about the 19-year-old’s talents, Fiorentina correspondent Corrado Formigli Firenze Viola: “I was amazed by Kayode’s strength. He is an impressive boy. A player of this calibre hasn’t been seen in Florence for some time. He should be locked down immediately. He’s a player who eats up the pitch and I’m seeing him do amazing tඣhings.”

Ange Postecoglou’s plans for Archie Gray could be revealed

Both Graꦓy and Kayode can play at right-back, and with Pedro Porro already in N17, it feels unlikely that two options would be signed for that position.

However, Gray can also play in central midfield.

Therefore, if Spurs continue bidding for Kayode even after bringing the Leeds No.22 to north London, it would suggest that Ange Postecoglou views the Englishman as a midfielder, and will use him centrally with the Italian then arriving to bolster the right-back dep𒉰artment.
