Report: Tottenham now want to add ‘world-class’ 42-goal international, will cost less than £20m

Tottenham Hotspur have enquired with Barcelona about the potential to sign Dutch forward, Memphis Depay.

A report from over in Spain has claimed that during negotiations for Clement Lenglet, Tottenham have also asked about signing Depay. claims that Barca would be willing to sell Depay for less than £20m, which could be a huge bargain for any potential suitors.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Depay has been mentioned when it comes to Spurs. Just a few weeks back, the ‘world class’ Dutchman was touted as a potential replacement for Steven Bergwijn. Now, weeks down the line, Tottenham could get Depay for a bargain price if they want.

Tottenham’s interest comes as the club are expected to announce the signing of Lenglet today. They also captured Richarlison last week as the club spent big to back Antonio Conte.

Depay, 28, has more than 40 goals for the Netherlands but hasn’t quite got going as he’d have liked in Barcelona. He shone at Lyon though, putting to bed any notion that he was a flop after a miserable spell with Manchester United.

TBR’s View: Depay To Tottenham Would Only Give Conte More Power

Well well well. If Tottenham fans thought their club was done in the market, then it looks like they can think again.

The signing of Depay would simply add more firepower to a team who are already looking like they’re going to challenge in the top three this season. The addition of Richarlison alongside Kane and Son is one thing, but Depay would be something else.

If Spurs do pull this off and get Depay for less than £20m, it will be one of the bargains of the summer.
