Tottenham have already bought a potential superstar in January who will seriously excite Ange Postecoglou
We are only two days into the New Year – but Ange Postecoglou already has a stronger squad at Tottenham.
Spurs have been severely depleted by injuries in defence, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies all missing large chunks of the 2024/25 campaign.
However, Ange Postecoglou has also spoken about the need to strengthen his attack, saying at the start of December: “There’s no doubt we need some bolstering in that front third over the next couple of transfer windows.”
Tottenham currently sit 11th in the Premier League – so a fresh face or two wouldn’t go amiss.

Regardless of what happens between now and transfer deadline day – which actually falls on February 3rd this season – Tottenham have already handed the Australian a potential superstar in Yang Min-hyeok.
Yang Min-hyeok can help Spurs immediately
Tottenham actually wrapped this deal up back in July – agreeing a £3.4m fee with Gangwon FC.
Given the fact Yang is just 18 years of age and only has 38 appearances to his name in senior football, the majority are not expecting too much, too soon from the teenager.
However, we believe the South Korea U17 international actually has the talent to inject some life into Tottenham’s stuttering 2024/25 campaign, and potentially become a superstar within a few years.

Yang has already proven himself capable of delivering in the final third, impressively scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in the K League 1 last season across 38 games, while he also seems to possess the mentality needed to handle the Premier League.
Byung-ji Kim, Chief Executive Officer of Gangwon FC, told the BBC: “I think his creativity will immediately be an asset in the Premier League, but he needs to bulk up physically and show he can perform the level of high sprints needed at Tottenham.
“But, he is quick, can play on the left and the right, uses both feet and has similarities to Son but is more of a creator than goal scorer. If you met him, you’d see his personality is humble… I don’t worry about him feeling the pressure of copying Son as he is a calm, level-headed person.”
Yang even embarrassed Emerson Royal during a pre-season friendly between Tottenham and Gangwon FC, giving Spurs fans an early glimpse of what he could do in the Premier League.
Where Ange Postecoglou could use Yang Min-hyeok at Tottenham
Not only is Yang a fearless young talent, but he is also versatile.
As Timo Werner struggles to perform out wide and Brennan Johnson lacks competition on the right flank, Postecoglou has the luxury of playing the South Korean wonderkid on either wing.
Yang made 12 appearances on the left flank for Gangwon FC last season and 24 appearances on the right, seeming to be equally comfortable in either position.
Interestingly, the Gwangju-born sensation also made one appearance as a striker, scoring a goal, so Postecoglou could realistically deploy his latest arrival anywhere across the frontline.
There is even a school of thought that Tottenham think Yang could be worth millions in future – so not only us here at TBR Football believe Spurs have a gem.
