Everton open door for Tottenham to sign ‘incredible’ £30m player in January – Fabrizio Romano

Tottenham’s hopes of signing Ghana star, Mohammed Kudus, have been given a boost by news of Everton now dipping away from the race.

Kudus has propelled himself to being one of the most in-demand players in Europe. A series of fine performances for Ajax in the Champions League, coupled with some goals in Qatar, have seen some elite clubs express interest.

Tottenham are thought to be among those clubs most keen. Ajax are thought to want at least £30m for Kudus, who is said to be open to moving on himself in the window.

Of course, Everton have also been linked with a move for Kudus. But according to Fabrizio Romano, the Toffees are now effectively out of the race, leaving the door ajar for Spurs.

Everton were one step away from signing him in August, then the deal collapsed as Ajax didn’t want to sell also him after Antony, Lisandro, Gravenberch and more. Everton are no longer the favourites, he’s also exploring more options,” Romano told .

Regarded by Erik ten Hag as a player with ‘i‘, Kudus did his reputation no harm by playing how he did over in Qatar. The question now is whether Spurs or another potential suitor is willing to put up the money in January.

TBR’s View: Kudus is worth the punt for Tottenham

There is a lot to like about how Mohammed Kudus plays football. He is a bit of a throw back in how direct he is when running with the ball. He can cause chaos, with his speed and power aiding that chaos.

However, he also has the class and physical attributes needed for the modern football. He brings goals, assists, and a constant threat in the final third.

For Tottenham, Kudus looks every bit the quality player they need in January. And if the fee is £30m, then that’s also a bit of a bargain.
