Tottenham fans want Vertonghen or Sessegnon instead of Rose at left-back while Davies is out
Tottenham Hotspur fans have been debating who should be playing at left-back in Ben Davies’ absence – and Danny Rose is not a popular option.
Davies told journalists (): “It doesn’t look good. It will be a while”. With the Welshman set for a period on the sidelines, who should Spurs pick to replace him?
The obvious answer would be Danny Rose. The 29-year-old was Mauricio Pochettino’s first pick in this position. But his form has been worrying this season and Spurs fans don’t seem to want him in the team.
Vertonghen or Sessegnon?

Instead, a number of fans have been calling for Jan Vertonghen or Ryan Sessegnon in this position. With Davies out, they want to keep Rose on the bench and give an opportunity to a less obvious option.
Vertonghen is just recovering from an injury and he is usually a centre-back. But he can operate at left-back, too, especially if Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez continue in central defence.
Sessegnon is another option but he has had his injury issues this season. Plus, the 19-year-old is still very young and he likes to play on the wing.
Here are some Tottenham fans discussing who should start at left-back with Davies out injured.
Jan has to play LB, Especially now the LB tucks in to make a 3 most of the game ! No brainer …

Jan needs to play Left back then. Jose seems to want the LB to act as a third centre back and Jan will do that better than Rose.

Can the ball boy play left back? He’s got plenty of pace and makes good decisions. Surely an instant upgrade over Rose

Good opportunity for Sessegnon.

Jan at left back then. Rose isn’t suited to playing as a 3rd cb, Jan can do the lb/cb role with ease.

Get Sess in their starting now Jose. I respect what Rose has done for Spurs and until this season was a quality left back. Now he cant play for us anymore, he’s so bad.
