Tottenham fans react to Jose Mourinho’s quick response when asked about Arsenal player

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has responded to a question about Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil in his latest press conference, following Ozil stating he would rather retire than join Spurs – and Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter.

Ozil, 32, has been ostracised by Mikel Arteta this season – failing to make the Premier League or Europa League squads. His contract is due to expire in the summer but he has been strongly linked with moves to either Fenerbahce or MLS outfit DC United.

The 92-time Germany international has been particularly active on social media and held a Q&A session on his Twitter account on Monday evening. One of the first questions put to Ozil was whether he would rather retire – or join Spurs.

Ozil’s response was put to Tottenham boss Mourinho in the Portuguese manager’s latest press conference ahead of Wednesday night’s London derby against Fulham – and the ex-Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid manager replied in a Mourinho-like way.

When told about Ozil’s remarks at Tuesday’s press conference, Mourinho hit back, saying: “Who told him that Tottenham were interested in signing him?”, . Spurs, then, have no interest whatsoever in Ozil.

Tottenham Hotspur fans reacted on Twitter to Mourinho’s response in his press conference, with Ozil’s future expected to be in America or in Turkey. Many fans found their manager’s comments hilarious, while one fan told Ozil to “enjoy retirement”.
