Tottenham fans react to Emerson Royal squad number

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans were reacting to the shirt number Emerson Royal has taken.

What’s the story?

The Brazilian has now completed his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs have announced the fullback- who has signed a five-year contract -with Royal picking the number 12 shirt.

Former wearers of the number 12 shirt, include, Victor Wanyama, Joe Hart, and Wilson Palacios.

If he career goes anything like the Kenyans, we can expect to see the 22-year-old appearing in a Champions League final.

If it’s anything like the latter duo, then Spurs fans could be in for a rough ride.

But, despite the defenders’ arrival, Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty are expected to stay this summer.

The duo were made available for transfers, however, opportunities were not found for the players.

Royal is a great signing for Tottenham

Last season was a painful watch for anyone associated with the Lilywhites.

But, more so on the right side of defence compared to any other position.

There was mass uncertainty surrounding just who was the out-and-out starter under Jose Mourinho.

Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty switched throughout the season. The made 19 appearances in the Premier League, whilst the made 17.

However, there is no clarity over just who will be Nuno Espirito Santo’s starter this season.

Royal was on fire for Real Betis during his loan spell last campaign, dominating the among Mauricio Pellegrini’s defenders.

With mere hours in the window, Spurs have solved a prime issue in what is turning into a great summer.
