Tottenham fans react to Abdoulaye Doucoure’s performance in 1-1 draw
Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans have suggested that Abdoulaye Doucoure should be the kind of player that Mauricio Pochettino targets after his outstanding display for Watford in Saturday’s draw.
The Hornets left Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a share of the points at the weekend. Dele Alli’s controversial goal in the latter stages cancelled out Doucoure’s opener for the Premier League’s bottom side.
Quique Sanchez Flores’s men may be struggling, but several Tottenham supporters have backed a future move for Doucoure after his performance.
Spurs’ midfield has been a real problem this season. And that allowed Doucoure to produce a masterclass at the weekend. Several Watford fans seemed to feel that it was, by some distance, his best performance of the season so far.
And a number of Spurs supporters have suggested that his display highlighted exactly what Pochettino’s men are currently lacking.
With Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier, Tottenham were brilliant in the middle of the park. Their energy was crucial to ensuring that Spurs could not be overrun in midfield. Unfortunately, the current options are struggling to tick the same boxes.
And after watching Doucoure – who was linked with a £35 million Spurs move last year (via ) – produce a stunning box to box display on Saturday, several fans on social media believe that he should find himself on Tottenham’s shopping list in a future window.
