Tottenham fans react as young talent gets POTM nomination after U23 form
Alfie Devine has been nominated to win the September POTM away for his performances in PL2’s top tier – and Tottenham fans have responded.
Devine, 17, is regarded as one of Tottenham’s best talents – ever since his move from Wigan in the summer of 2020, for a fee of £500,000 ().
Playing between the Under-18’s and 23’s last season, he is now a regular for the reserves. His form is somewhat remarkable, given he is just 17.
Devine has clocked up eight appearances for the 23’s, seven of which have come in Premier League 2. In that time, he has scored five goals.
In September, in which he is up for the award, he got a brace in a win over Liverpool – an assist against Blackburn, and a goal in a 3-1 win over Derby.
Little surprise, then, that Devine has been nominated for the award. Tottenham confirmed as much with a Tweet on Monday afternoon.
What are Tottenham fans saying about Devine nomination?
Devine, of course, has made his senior debut – coming on against non-league AFC Marine last season and scoring in a 5-0 win.
But the midfielder is yet to be given a chance in the first team since then. However, he might get a chance in the Europa Conference League.
Spurs have four points from two games and with four games left to play, Devine might find himself getting a chance before the group stage ends.
Tottenham fans have reacted to Devine getting a nomination after his four goal involvements in September. Many want him to get a first-team chance.
