Tottenham fans react as Wout Weghorst confirms Spurs summer interest
VfL Wolfsburg forward Wout Weghorst has admitted that Tottenham were interested in signing him during the summer transfer window – and some Spurs fans have reacted with disappointment to the news by suggesting he could have been a good addition for them.
The 28-year-old was linked with Spurs during the recent summer window, which shut earlier this month and the EFL window follows it by closing on Friday.
He is a colossus striker that is a key player for German side Wolfsburg and last season he managed 20 goals in 43 games across all competitions for them.
, the Bundesliga team were considering selling the Dutchman and were looking for £27million for his potential sale.
Weghorst has remained with Wolfsburg, but he’s confirmed the interest from Jose Mourinho’s team:
“I can be honest, of course I knew that there was interest left and right. It was serious with Tottenham, I was a candidate. Of course you are interested with something like that too. It is also a confirmation that I’m on the right track,”

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media believe that Weghorst could have been a top addition for them, as the North London club went in search for somebody to compete with Harry Kane in the number nine position.
Despite missing out on the Wolfsburg frontman, they did manage to sign Benfica’s 25-year-old striker Carlos Vinicius on a season-long loan.
Here are some Spurs fans discussing Weghorst:
crying atm

For me, Woughorst would be better suited at Tottenham than Carlos Vinicious, He’s clearly a Jose type of player
