Tottenham fans react as Toby Alderweireld reportedly attracts summer interest

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld is reportedly attracting interest from Dutch top-flight club PSV Eindhoven – but some Spurs fans on Twitter have responded by insisting that he should not be sold.

reports that PSV have contacted Alderweireld’s agent to sound out a possible deal for him in the summer transfer window.

The Eredivisie giants want to try bring the 31-year-old to their club at the end of the season, but it’s unclear on if that will be possible.

Signed by Mauricio Pochettino in 2015, the Belgian centre-back has established himself as one of the club’s elite defenders of the 21st century and he’s still performing at such a high consistent standard today.

He’s a composed defender in possession, as well as being a real leader at the back.

Current Spurs manager Jose Mourinho still has him as a first-choice centre-back this season in the XI and he’s played in 15 games across all competitions so far this term.

A selection of Spurs fans on social media have responded to the Alderweireld speculation by claiming it would be foolish for them to offload him in the summer, as they still feel he’s a crucial figure within their squad.
