Tottenham fans react as Takehiro Tomiyasu bid is made

Tottenham have made a bid of £15 million to sign Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu,

Spurs are currently without a manager. They are in talks to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo, however, with an agreement looking likely.

A new central defender will be a requirement for any new boss. Tottenham struggled massively at the back last season and that needs to change.

Eric Dier was so bad he lost his England place, whilst Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez also endured tough campaigns.

Tomiyasu could prove to be an exciting signing. He has also been linked with Atalanta and West Ham, following a sound campaign in Serie A with Bologna.

He made 33 appearances during 2020/21, scoring twice. The central defender also has 23 appearances for Japan to his name.

Tottenham finished seventh last season and will play in the Europa Conference League during 2021/22. That isn’t ideal and they’ll crave a return to the bigger European competitions.

That will be the challenge for the next manager and Tomiyasu could help with those ambitions.

Tottenham must wait to find out if their bid will be successful. If it is and they can get something over the line, he will become the first signing of the summer.

Tottenham fans seem to fancy Tomiyasu

A quick look on Twitter suggests that Spurs supporters would indeed welcome the Japanese international checking in.

The club are pretty desperate for a centre-back and at 22-years-old, he has plenty of time left to continue improving.
