Tottenham fans react as Spurs reportedly looking to sign Barcelona defender

Clement Lenglet has reportedly emerged as a January target for Tottenham Hotspur. It is claimed that Spurs tried to sign Lenglet in the summer – and Tottenham fans have responded on Twitter to the reports.

Lenglet, 26, was crucial for Barcelona in his first three seasons at the club. Joining in 2018, he played 133 times in all competitions. But something clicked in the summer, and he dropped down the pecking order.

With Pique remaining, Eric Garcia arriving, Samuel Umtiti waiting in the wings and the rise of both Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza, Lenglet has fed off scraps. He has managed just 12 appearances, starting only nine times.

The 15-time France international has been superb over the years, but his lack of game time could convince him to move. say Tottenham are looking to bring the French star to the Premier League in January.

What are Tottenham fans saying about a potential move for Lenglet?

Romero also reports that Tottenham tried to bring the ex-Sevilla ace to Spurs last summer – but he was still first choice. Since then, he has dropped down the pecking order and that might change Lenglet’s stance.

Indeed, Antonio Conte is in charge – replacing Nuno Espirito Santo. Such a move might also be more tempting for Lenglet, with Spurs looking to bring in competition for Ben Davies on the left side of the back three.

Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Lenglet could be about to leave Barcelona for Spurs – and many believe he would be a good signing for Conte’s men.
