Tottenham fans react as reported January target hands in transfer request
Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that Edinson Cavani has handed in a transfer request and that PSG are listening to offers for the veteran striker – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter with excitement.
Cavani, 32, is out of favour at PSG this season despite scoring 23 goals in 33 games last season. This time around, Thomas Tuchel has only handed the 116-time Uruguay international a start on six separate occasions. He has played 14 times in total.
Mauro Icardi is preferred up front at the moment, leaving Cavani to warm the bench. He is desperate to leave the club he joined from Napoli way back in the summer of 2013. Cavani’s current contract expires at the end of the season.
Brazilian legend Leonardo spoke after the 1-0 French Cup win over Lorient on Sunday, being quoted by as saying that the club will listen to offers for Cavani – and that he has asked to leave the club.

“Today he asked to leave,” , when asked about the striker’s future at the club. “For Cavani, we’re listening. We’ll see how it develops over the next few days. We’re listening because we respect the player.”
at the beginning of the month that Cavani was an option for Spurs, who are on the lookout for a striker after Harry Kane tore his hamstring – ruling him out until April. he is available for just £12million.
Many Spurs fans reacted on Twitter to Leonardo’s comments about superstar Cavani, who The Mail also claim is earning a whopping £288,000 a week at PSG. The majority of Tottenham supporters have urged Daniel Levy to get Cavani signed.
When a player like Cavani becomes available, if we have any hopes of top 4 then we MUST act! Mourinho has a huge reputation in football. Can he lure such a player to Spurs?
