Tottenham fans react as Glenn Hoddle suggests Southampton player would improve Spurs
Glenn Hoddle has told his podcast that he believes Tottenham Hotspur would improve if the club decided to lure Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse to the club, with the January window starting next week – and Spurs fans have responded.
Ward-Prowse, 26, has been excellent for Southampton over the past couple of seasons – shining once again for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men this season as the Saints look to break into the top half of the table and compete for European qualification.
A set-piece specialist, four-time England international Ward-Prowse has scored four goals and created three more in 15 Premier League appearances. He is just six matches shy of playing 300 times for his boyhood club at senior level.
But as his form improves, so will interest in his services. Hoddle has told his podcast that if Tottenham lured him to North London from Southampton, then he would be a “major asset” for Spurs. He also touted Everton as a possible suitor.

“I think his all round game has come on leaps and bounds, but as a set piece artist there is no-one better,” . “He’d be a major asset for Tottenham, for instance. Or he could go and play in Everton’s team tomorrow.”
Tottenham signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the summer from Southampton, having partnered Ward-Prowse on the south coast. Everton, meanwhile, signed Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez during the course of the summer window.
Spurs supporters have responded on Twitter to the news that Hoddle has suggested Ward-Prowse as a possible target for the North London side – and many are in agreement. One fan suggested a swap deal including Harry Winks.
Imagine someone putting crosses into the best striker on the world. Might be an idea 💡 we could even try that now, wouldn’t that be something

He's the best set piece player in the league, would love him. We don't actually have a set piece specialist. Kane tries but he rarely scores free kicks.
