Tottenham fans react as defender completes move to Europa League side
Cameron Carter-Vickers completed a last-minute loan-to-buy deal from Tottenham to Celtic on deadline day – and Spurs fans have responded.
Carter-Vickers, 23, has left Tottenham on loan once again but this time – Scottish giants Celtic have the option to sign him permanently.
The eight-time United States international has already been on loan to six other English clubs, as he struggles to break into Tottenham’s senior side.
Ipswich, Stoke, Luton, Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Swansea have all had Carter-Vickers on loan. Now, he will go north of the border to Celtic.
It comes after Carter-Vickers was handed just his fifth Tottenham outing at senior level earlier this season – in the Europa Conference League.
Celtic sign Carter-Vickers: What do Tottenham fans think?
If Carter-Vickers had any chance of breaking into the Tottenham side beforehand, they have been diminished by the signing of Cristian Romero.
The improved form of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez has given Fabio Paratici a helping hand. Spurs chose not to sign any other defenders.
Japhet Tanganga can play at centre-back and is likely to be used more so in that role, after the arrival of Emerson Royal. Serge Aurier is a free agent.
Joe Rodon is also an option at the heart of the Tottenham defence, after a brilliant Euro 2020 display for Wales. Carter-Vickers, then, had to go.
Celtic need additions in the middle of the defence, with new signing Carl Starfelt struggling. Tottenham fans have had their say on Twitter.
