Tottenham fans react as Andros Townsend comments on Gareth Bale
Crystal Palace star Andros Townsend has taken to Twitter to defend Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale after it becomes clear that he is being frozen out by the Spanish side – and Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter.
Bale, 30, scored 14 goals and laid on a further seven assists last season during 42 league and cup appearances – and has scored 102 goals in 231 games since joining in 2013. He has a contract at Real until the summer of 2022.
Zinedine Zidane has said that he wants Bale to leave Real Madrid this summer, and he has not been included in the squad that travelled to Montreal earlier this summer – along with playmaker Isco.
Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has since called Zidane “a disgrace”, while many have come out in support of Bale on social media. Former Spurs teammate and England international Townsend was one of those.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham are interested in bringing Bale back to north London, with Mauricio Pochettino refusing to rule out a move when speaking to the – claiming it is down to Daniel Levy.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to Townsend’s Tweet on Twitter, with many replying “agent Townsend” while others stated that returning to Spurs would be the best move for Bale at this point in his career.
