Tottenham fans react as 20-year-old reportedly wants to stay despite interest

Jack Clarke has reportedly decided he wants to stay to fight for a Tottenham position in the new season – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter love the youngster’s attitude.

Clarke, 20, has only tasted senior football briefly with Spurs since joining from Leeds United two years ago.

He’s played three first-team games for the north London club, but has spent a lot of his time out on loan. However, he’s been unable to really shine on any loan spell in the Championship.

The reports there is interest both domestically and from abroad in signing Clarke this summer.

But, the attacker wants to stay to fight for a spot in the senior group.

He’s a skilful right-winger who’s got tremendous pace, trickery and agility.

Spurs are playing in UEFA’s inaugural third-tier competition this campaign, so perhaps it’s an opportunity for manager Nuno Espirito Santo to blood some of his youngsters with more senior football.

Tottenham fans getting behind Jack Clarke

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media are ready to back Clarke.

The fleet-footed wide player is someone that fans have barely seen in action, but he fits the mould of being an attacker that works best on the front foot.

His directness would make him a real favourite, but it’s about whether or not he can get on the pitch.

He does have a tall order to compete with the likes of Heung-Min Son, Steven Bergwijn, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura for the wide roles.
