Tottenham fans rave about Serge Aurier’s performance against Liverpool
Liverpool earned a late win over Tottenham Hotspur thanks to Roberto Firmino’s stunning header in injury time to win 2-1 and go top of the table – and Spurs fans have praised the performance of defender Serge Aurier.
Spurs came into the match having been held to a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon – but it was clear that they would sit back and look to hit Liverpool on the counter. The Reds also drew 1-1 last time out.
Liverpool dominated possession, territory and chances but in true Jose Mourinho style, Tottenham defended excellently and earned a point – with Liverpool’s first goal coming thanks to a deflection on a Mo Salah shot.

Tottenham equalised soon after. A brilliant driving run from Gio Lo Celso on the counter attack saw the Argentine feed Son Heung-min, who scored with aplomb – beating Alisson and sending the Brazilian stopper the wrong way.
In the second half, Spurs had chances through Steven Bergwijn and Harry Kane – while Sadio Mane hit the bar. Firmino won the match, though, as they powered a header into the back of the net in injury time.
Ivorian right-back Aurier has been criticised in the past for being a liability and many will remember the penalty he conceded last season at Anfield – for a foul on Mane. But Spurs fans heaped praise on the defender, despite the loss.
