Tottenham fans praise Serge Aurier for his Europa League performance

Tottenham took control of their Europa League tie by beating Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were wowed by the performance from defender Serge Aurier.

Spurs beat their Croatian opposition 2-0 at home in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16 contest.

Jose Mourinho’s side will travel to Croatia with a two-goal advantage next week for the second leg, while in-between there is a North London derby this weekend against rivals Arsenal in the Premier League.

Harry Kane was the match-winner tonight for Spurs with his brace, as the England captain continued his superb individual campaign.

The centre-forward now has 26 goals in 37 games across all competitions after his European heroics.

His opening goal came midway through the first half, before he added a vital second in the 70th minute.

One slight concern will be that he was pictured with an ice pack around his knee after being substituted off, which fans will hope was just a precaution.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media picked out their right-back Aurier for his contribution, as he proved a real attacking threat during the contest and helped set up Kane’s second goal.

The 28-year-old was back in the XI against Zagreb and it’ll be interesting to see if he starts ahead of Matt Doherty this weeend.

Here are some Spurs fans discussing Aurier:
