Thomas Frank talks leave Tottenham fans divided over the Brentford manager replacing Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur supporters are rather divided on the subject of whether to stick or twist with Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham will decide Postecoglou’s future this week, and TBR Football understands that it is likely the Australian coach will be relieved of his duties as manager.

Thomas Frank has held talks with Tottenham about the possibility of replacing the 59-year-old and the Brentford boss now appears to be the leading contender.

Spurs fans have now been discussing the possibility of the Dane becoming the next manager at the North London club, and there appears to be a real split in the fanbase.

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans are starting to get excited about the prospect of Thomas Frank becoming the next Spurs manager, however, others fear it is not much of an upgrade.

There is a sense amongst some of the North London club’s fanbase that the 51-year-old has earned the right to make the step up to a bigger club.

These supporters believe that Frank has done ‘an insane job’ in West London and feel that he could do a similar job across the capital, just on a bigger scale.

But that is not the case for every fan, as many also want the board to stick by the manager who just ended their 17-year wait for a trophy.

Following the news that Frank could replace Postecoglou, Spurs supporters have taken to X to express their feelings on the potential appointment.

One fan stated: “For those writing Thomas Frank off. He is an exceptional manager. Genuinely, a fantastic football man and tactical genius. Even better if he were to bring Henry and Mbuemo with him.”

Another said: “Can we please stop pretending that it wouldn’t also be fairly justified to move on from Ange, and that Frank is a bad manager.

“Frank is a top coach, what he’s done at Brentford is insane with the smallest budget/wage bill in the Premier League, and he would instantly raise the floor at Spurs.”

Meanwhile, other fans were less accepting of the idea that Frank could replace Postecoglou: “Thomas Frank? No thanks. I’ll stick with the manager who helped us win silverware after a 17-year drought – I’ll keep the manager our team clearly backs. The end of that Spurs documentary better have us looking forward to season three.”

Another added: “Thomas Frank, ladies and gentlemen. Last season finished on 39 points. He gave Brentford this, plus a loss to Plymouth in the FA Cup. Ange gave us a European trophy and our best day in 41 years. I hope this helps.”

How does Thomas Frank’s Premier League record compare to Ange Postecoglou’s?

Frank has a Premier League win rate of just 0.36, meanwhile, Postecoglou’s win rate stands at 0.41, having managed almost half the number of games as the Dane.

Tottenham, under the Australian manager, have averaged an impressive 1.8 goals per game in the league, whereas Brentford have scored an average of 1.5 under Frank.

When the two managers have gone head to head in the division, Postecoglou has got the better of Frank on the last three occasions.
