Tottenham fans in awe of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s finish during draw v Rennes
Tottenham secured a point in the Europa Conference League against Rennes – and Spurs fans have raved about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s finish.
Spurs came into the match after a 3-0 hammering by Crystal Palace on the weekend, and Nuno Espirito Santo made a handful of changes to his side.
But it was a team that still included the likes of Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Hojbjerg. Tanguy Ndombele was given his first start of the season.
Things got off to an excellent start – Lucas having a cross deflected into his own net by Rennes defender Loic Balde. But Rennes came back.
The French side scored goals through Flavien Tait and then Gaetan Laborde to go 2-1 ahead after 70 minutes. But Spurs got themselves a second.
Hojbjerg goal: Tottenham fans applaud Dane for finish
A cross from Matt Doherty found it’s way to Hojbjerg – finishing with a beautiful, yet deft touch, on the volley past Rennes stopper Romain Salin.
While it was not the win that many expected against Rennes, Spurs produced a decent enough performance and a point is not bad at all.
They are still expected to finish top of the group without any issues come the end of the group stage campaign. Rennes are likely to finish second.
Tottenham fans took to Twitter to rave about Hojbjerg and his finish. While it was a frustrating night for fans, many raved about the Dane’s goal.
