Tottenham fans handed major boost ahead of Carabao Cup Final
It’s been a long wait since Tottenham fans were last able to attend a match, and an even longer one since their team landed silverware.
Both of those waits could soon be over, however, with confirmation from the FA that 8,000 supporters will be able to attend the upcoming Carabao Cup Final between Spurs and Manchester City.
As reported by , the showpiece occasion is to be used as a pilot event to test the return of crowds to football matches.
The match, which will take place at Wembley on April 25, will see fans of both clubs given a proportion of the 8,000 tickets.
There will be similar events taking place in the FA Cup. The semi-final between Leicester City and Southampton on April 18 will be attended by 4,000 supporters, and the final on May 15 is expected to be played in front of 21,000 fans.
Tickets not given to Spurs and City fans for the Carabao Cup Final will be given to locals in the Brent area and NHS staff.
Mark Bellingham, CEO of the FA, : “We are delighted to be hosting three test events at Wembley and are confident we can offer a safe environment.
“This is an important first step towards getting fans back, with the end goal of full stadia – hopefully by the end of the Men’s EUROs.
“We would like to thank all authorities for their support throughout this process.”
Update from The following confirmation that the Semi Final on 18 April and Final on 25 April will be part of the UK Government’s Events Research Programme.
