Tottenham fans discuss Tariq Lamptey after display at Chelsea

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that they would love for Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici to target Tariq Lamptey after the defender shone against Chelsea on Wednesday.

The Seagulls picked up a hugely impressive point at Stamford Bridge, putting a further dent in the Blues’ Premier League title aspirations. Danny Welbeck scored in stoppage-time for the visitors.

In truth, Graham Potter’s men will probably feel that a point was the least they deserved. They were excellent against Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Lamptey was one of several Brighton players to cause the home side all sorts of problems. The 21-year-old kept his place on the right of the defence. But with the Seagulls using a back three, he was given more license to try and contribute further up the pitch.

And while he was on the pitch – he was taken off after 65 minutes – he certainly managed to win his battle up against Marcos Alonso – who replaced Reece James just before the half-hour mark.

Just two players managed a greater number of progressive carries than Lamptey, . And his tally of seven was all the more impressive when you consider that the two players who managed one more – Marc Cucurella and Solly March – both played the full 90 minutes.

No player meanwhile, was fouled more often than the youngster. He won three free-kicks during his time on the park.

Lamptey appears to be rediscovering his best form after a tough time with injury earlier in the year.

And with that, Brighton will surely be bracing themselves for interest in the former Chelsea starlet. He has previously been spoken about as a £50 million player.

In fact, it was reported just this week that Arsenal are exploring the possibility of making a move for Lamptey. It was suggested that Brighton would be open to letting him go if their asking price is met.

Lamptey joining Arsenal would not go down well with a lot of Tottenham supporters however. And that is because plenty of Spurs fans were insisting that he would be an ideal signing for Conte’s men in one of the coming windows.

that a new right wing-back could be on the Italian’s shopping list ahead of the January transfer window.

‘He would cook in Conte’s system’

Emerson Royal has been Conte’s first-choice since his appointment. But the Brazilian looks to have more to prove following his arrival from Barcelona.

And Matt Doherty may well be on the move. He has been linked with a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Roma.

For many, Lamptey would be the ideal addition. He is a seriously exciting prospect with an incredibly high ceiling. And several fans have insisted that Conte would help him realise that frightening potential.
