Tottenham fans discuss reports that Lloris could stay, even if club sign £25m PL star

Reports claim Tottenham could still hand Hugo Lloris a new contract to stay at Spurs even if the club complete a deal to sign Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford – and Spurs fans have responded.

claim Antonio Conte wants Tottenham to raid Everton and sign England no.1 Pickford. It is believed the ex-Sunderland man will cost north of £25million, with Everton needing to cash in.

The Toffees might have to cash in in order to comply with Financial Fairplay. Conte wants a new goalkeeper despite boasting captain Lloris, and on-loan Italy international Pierluigi Gollini.

But Lloris is out of contract in June, and Atalanta loanee Gollini is yet to convince Spurs why he deserves a permanent move. say Spurs could still hand Lloris a new deal, if Pickford joins.

Such a move is likely to make captain Lloris second choice behind Pickford – but with both competing for the no.1 jersey. Whether Lloris is happy to be considered back-up remains to be seen.

What do Tottenham fans think about Lloris staying – if Pickford signs?

Lloris is a world-class goalkeeper. But given he is turning 35 this month, Tottenham need to find a replacement and Pickford would certainly be a good signing for the North London club.

However, the chances of signing Pickford but keeping Lloris are almost zero. Lloris will feel he is good enough to be number one, and he has a point – many would argue that Lloris is currently better than Pickford.

Conte and Fabio Paratici have a choice. Either hand Lloris another short-term deal, a year or two, and then sign a replacement – or bring in Pickford and wave goodbye to Lloris. Spurs fans have had their say.
