Tottenham fans discuss Eric Dier display against Crystal Palace

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the performance of Eric Dier after Spurs claimed another victory, beating Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.

Antonio Conte’s men seemed to have no problems dealing with the uncertainty surrounding whether the clash with the Eagles would go ahead.

Both Harry Kane and Lucas Moura scored in the first-half, while Son Heung-min added another. And in truth, Hugo Lloris seemed to have little to do. Palace’s cause was not helped by Wilfried Zaha getting sent off before the break.

Spurs kept their third clean sheet in four Premier League games. And once again, it was another superb performance from Eric Dier in the middle of the back three.

The 27-year-old has looked hugely impressive since Conte was appointed. It would appear that his new role is absolutely perfect for the England international.

He was very good defensively. But he also looked a class act when striding forward in possession. And that prompted plenty of Tottenham fans to take to social media to laud his performance.

Dier has had a turbulent time in the last few years. Like several others in the Tottenham squad, he seemed to struggle to build on the form that he showed at the height of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure.

His versatility seemed to count against him as he struggled to establish himself as a centre-back or central midfielder. But Conte looks to have found the ideal role for Dier.

He tipped him to potentially be one of the world’s best in that position this week. Dier certainly seems to be on his way.
