Tottenham fans discuss Carlos Vinicius display after Brighton defeat
Tottenham Hotspur suffered a second successive Premier League defeat on Sunday night as Brighton earned a 1-0 win on the south coast thanks to Leandro Trossard’s first-half strike – but Spurs fans have praised Carlos Vinicius.
Tottenham came into the match having suffered a heavy 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last time out at home – compounded by the injury to Harry Kane. Jose Mourinho chose to start Gareth Bale in place of Kane, but the move failed to work.
Indeed, Brighton heightened Tottenham’s misery. Good work from Pascal Gross gave Trossard the chance to open the scoring and he duly obliged, bundling a shot home from eight yards out – leaving Hugo Lloris with no chance.
Bale was replaced after about an hour for Vinicius – with the Welshman failing to rubbish criticism of his form. In his place came Vinicius and the on-loan Benfica striker instantly improved Spurs in the final third.
Vinicius gave Spurs a focal point and probably came closest out of all of the Tottenham players in scoring. His quick turn and shot was saved superbly by Roberto Sanchez – who tipped the ball around the post for a corner.
Tottenham suffered a defeat and Spurs fans were frustrated on Twitter after the match – but many were impressed with Vinicius’ efforts and feel he has done enough to start the next game.
Vinicius has done more than enough to show he should be starting the next game.
