Tottenham fans discuss big Eric Dier claim from Antonio Conte
Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing Antonio Conte make a huge claim regarding Eric Dier and the level he could reach as the central defender in the back three.
Dier is one of several Spurs players to have made an incredibly bright start to life under Conte. The 27-year-old has started every Premier League game since the Italian was appointed.
He had shown some bright form earlier this season, particularly in the first few games under Nuno Espírito Santo. However, he appears to have found another gear since Conte came to the club.
What is seriously exciting is that Conte does not believe that Tottenham supporters have even seen the best of the England international yet, as he outlined the kind of heights he could reach.
“I think that Eric Dier can become one of the best players in the world in that position,” he said, . “I think that position is perfect for him. For sure he needs to work, he needs to continue to improve, to understand very well the movement with the defensive line.”
Dier, of course, had previously been one of the best performers during the spell in Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure when Tottenham established themselves as title-contenders. However, he appeared to lose his way in more recent years. And he has come in for plenty of criticism from the fans.

So most managers may have been wary of making such a statement. However, Conte has a proven track record of turning previously-written-off players into absolutely vital cogs in the machine he constructs.
And with that, several Tottenham fans have insisted that Conte is the perfect manager to help Dier finally realise the full potential he has shown. There is a belief that the Italian could indeed turn Dier into the player he thinks he could be.
