Tottenham fans desperate for 22-year-old to start against Aston Villa

Tottenham host Aston Villa on Wednesday in the Premier League – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have stressed they want to see player Japhet Tanganga start for them.

Spurs host Villa at 6pm on Wednesday evening at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a small section of home fans allowed inside the ground.

Interim boss Ryan Mason has seen his side win three of their four league games under him, albeit there was also the Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City, and he’ll be hoping to finish the season strongly in the two remaining matches.

The north London club now know top four is beyond their reach, but they need to consolidate sixth in the table to stay in the European positions with a crop of teams below them.

Spurs travel to Leicester City on Sunday in the final game of the season, which makes their penultimate fixture with Villa even more important.

A selection of Spurs fans on social media have claimed Tanganga needs to be in the starting XI for today’s league match with Villa.

The 22-year-old defender did start in the recent win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, but that was his first opportunity to try impress under Mason.

With usual right-back Serge Aurier missing against Wolves due to a groin problem., academy graduate Tanganga impressed in the full-back role.

However, Aurier has been training ahead of Villa, and Mason was tight-lipped about whether or not he’ll be available to come into the side on Wednesday.

It’s clear that some of the fanbase want an extended run in the XI for highly-rated defender Tanganga, who is a powerful youngster that doesn’t look phased at senior level.

Here are some Spurs fans asking for Tanganga to play:
