Tottenham fans demand Carlos Vinicius starts in Europa League

Tottenham host Dinamo Zagreb tonight in the Europa League – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have urged manager Jose Mourinho to play Carlos Vinicius.

Spurs continue their European campaign on Thursday night with the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie.

The North London club have been pitted against Croatian champions Zagreb, who knocked out Krasnodar in the previous round.

Mourinho’s side are five points adrift of fourth right now in the Premier League and will feel they can still claw back the deficit to finish in the Champions League positions this season.

Alternatively, winning the Europa League would be a rare piece of silverware, as well as a pass into next season’s Champions League.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media believe that Vinicius should be handed a start.

There is the North London derby on Sunday against Arsenal to consider, plus the Brazilian forward has done a great job whenever filling in for Harry Kane in attack.

Vinicius has nine goals in 20 appearances across all competitions this season, with six of them coming in the Europa League.

The 25-year-old’s patience should be rewarded with an opportunity against Zagreb, but it must be difficult to leave out world-class forward Kane when he’s available and in brilliant form.

Here are some Spurs fans asking for Vinicius:
