Tottenham target Italy rising star Riccardo Calafiori
Calafiori is a player who overcame a potentially career-ending injury several years ago to reach the potential he had as a youngster.
Back in 2018, Calafiori was playing for Roma and there were high hopes for him to potentially reach Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi levels.
However, a horror tackle in a UEFA Youth League encounter against Viktoria Plzen in October 2018 left him with a serious knee injury.
As per , all of the ligaments in Calafiori’s joint had been ruptured along with his meniscus and articular capsule.
After undergoing surgery in the United States, his long road back to the training pitches began, and less than two years later, he was rewarded for his efforts.
Calafiori made his professional debut with Roma, as well as his Serie A debut, in a 3-1 away win over Juventus on 1 August 2020.
The 21-year-old went on to make 18 competitive appearances for Roma, as well as a loan spell at Genoa, before joining Basel permanently in the summer of 2022.
Within 12 months, Serie A came calling again as Bologna signed him. The £26million-rated ace has made 22 appearances to date for the Rossoblu.
