Tottenham eyeing 19-year-old ‘CL level’ midfielder likened to Jack Wilshere
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton.
According to , Spurs are one of several Premier League clubs in pursuit of the 19-year-old.
As well as Tottenham, the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle, Brighton and Everton are apparently all eyeing Wharton too.
In a boost to Spurs, the report says Tottenham are “on good terms” with Blackburn following the transfer of Ashley Phillips to N17 in the summer.
Tottenham could certainly do with bolstering their midfield ranks in January, particularly amid an uncertain future for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
At the same time, Spurs have been making a big effort in signing talented prospects with a view to becoming future first-team stars.

Wharton certainly ticks those boxes. At just 19 years of age, he’s already a crucial player for Rovers.
He has made 17 appearances for them this term – including 15 in the Championship – and is one of the most promising players outside of the Premier League.
Tottenham target ‘Champions League level’ on the ball
“Adam, on the ball, he has a Champions League level,” manager Jon Dahl Tomasson told after the Carabao Cup meeting with Chelsea earlier this month.
“I’ve been a Champions League player myself, I’ve coached in the Champions League so I know what you need.
“He’s still young so he needs, of course, to develop the rest of his game. That could be defending but Adam played an excellent game.”
Meanwhile, wrote in September: “Adam Wharton is a box to box player who has the stamina and work rate to be equally as effective on both ends of the pitch.
“On the ball he has fantastic technical ability and is more than capable using both feet with no reduction in quality.
“His aggressive nature and strong desire to win the ball and his lovely technical ability when breaking the lines with either his passing or strong ball carrying solo runs are all very similar to a young Jack Wilshere when he was breaking through and rising at Arsenal before injuries derailed his career.”
