Tottenham defender Danny Rose comments on his future

Danny Rose has claimed that he will see out the remainder of his Tottenham contract and dismissed speculation that there were bids for him in the summer.

According to the in August, Watford saw a £14million offer rejected for the England international.

The defender is a senior member of the Spurs group and has played 209 times for the North London club.

He is still under contract with Spurs until the 2021 summer and has made it clear that he won’t be leaving until then, despite being told he will not receive a new deal.

Rose has publicly spoken out about his future at Spurs and explained a discussion with chairman Daniel Levy.

“In January, you’re probably going to hear something [about my future]. I’m telling you right now that I’m not going anywhere until my contract is finished,” Rose told the

“Daniel Levy told me in the summer there was no new contract for me at Tottenham, which is fine. I respect that. We move on.

“My contract is up in 18 months’ time and I’ll leave the football club then. People [in the media] can save their time trying to get stuff ready for January about me being sold.

“Because I can tell you now: it ain’t happening. I know what people were trying to do in the summer… There were no bids — that was rubbish.”

TBR’s View:

Rose can expect a backlash from Spurs supporters given that his long-term future is not with the club and his own standards have dropped off in the last year.

But it looks like they are stuck with him for the next 18 months and there seems very little they can do about it.

He’s played 11 games across all competitions so far this campaign and is battling with Ben Davies for the left-back position, but neither are performing out of their skin.

Spurs should look to invest their time in young talent Ryan Sessegnon moving forward, as he could have a long future with the club moving forward unlike Rose.
