Tottenham decide they want to keep ‘fabulous’ midfielder next season despite signing Archie Gray
Tottenham Hotspur are now set to announce the signing of Leeds United youngster Archie Gray after agreeing a deal to sign the 18-year-old.
The deal to see Archie Gray make the move to north London will include Spurs defender Joe Rodon who spent last season out on loan with Leeds.
Gray will provide Ange Postecoglou with a versatile option given he has experience of playing both in midfield and at right-back.
This expected signing will mark the first permanent arrival at Tottenham of the summer with Timo Werner‘s loan deal the only other signing to boast so far.
However, this has also led to Tottenham coming to a decision on the future of one of their current midfielders whose future was up in the air this summer.

Tottenham decide on future of ‘fabulous’ midfielder
This summer’s transfer window was always going to provide Postecoglou with the opportunity to sort out his midfield.
It was an area of the pitch with provided the Australian with a number of issues over the 2023/24 campaign with players struggling with form and injuries.
Players are still expected to leave the club with the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg still being linked with a potential move away from north London.
But it now seems as if there is one player who could be set to stay despite also being linked with a departure this summer.
According to , Tottenham are now keen to keep Oliver Skipp at the club for the new campaign.
It is claimed Skipp is viewed as a solid rotational player by Postecoglou for the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur with a busy campaign coming up.
But Leeds remain interested in taking Skipp off their hands this summer with their deal for Gray only involving Rodon.
Skipp is a player who Glenn Hoddle has hailed as ‘fabulous’ previously and has shown his talent in the Championship before with Norwich City.
“It’s a fabulous bit of defensive work as well. The little ball goes in, Toney’s offside, it’s true he doesn’t attempt to play the ball. He leaves it. But Skipp, his awareness defensively to get that is amazing. He covered the ground, it’s excellent defending,” Hoddle said on .
Tottenham now have Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall
Spurs are now adding yet another seriously talented youngster to their squad this summer in Gray with Lucas Bergvall also joining up with his new side.
Even with the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie, there has been a clear indication of what Spurs are trying to build for their long-term future.
And they are adding two of Europe’s top midfield talents in Bergvall and Gray this summer which can only provide optimism for what is to come.
What will be interesting to see is just how much game time the pair can collect over the coming campaign.
