Tottenham signing Nicolas Tagliafico could spell the end for Danny Rose

Tottenham defeated Burnley 5-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday to keep the pressure on the sides chasing the top four.

A brace from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min and Moussa Sissoko ensured a comfortable three points for Spurs.

Although the games are coming thick and fast, attention may soon turn towards January and the transfer window.

New boss Jose Mourinho will surely want to stamp his own authority on the squad and a couple of players will probably be targeted.

Tottenham have had a real issue at full-back. It seems unlikely that two big-money signings will arrive during a difficult transfer window for buying clubs, but Mourinho may look to address one side.

have linked Tottenham with a move for Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.

The 27-year-old was an integral part of the Dutch side as they reached the last four of last season’s Champions League and is also being eyed by Dortmund.

His arrival at Tottenham would surely spell the end for Danny Rose.

The 29-year-old has played just 15 minutes of league football under Mourinho, with Jan Vertonghen being preferred at left-back.

Options

It was reported that Rose was interesting PSG during the summer. A move never materialised then but if Tagliafico arrived at Tottenham, his first-team prospects would become even bleaker.

Signing the Ajax man won’t be a given. Dortmund are reportedly preparing a £50 million bid for the defender, with a salary of £12.5 million

Rose has a contract until 2021 so Spurs won’t recoup a fortune for him.

A move could be best for all parties. At 29-years-old, Rose will want to play football in order to try and add to his 29 England caps.

If he isn’t going to do that at Tottenham it makes sense for him to look at his options and turn towards pastures new.
