Tottenham could yet move to sign 21-year-old defender in January
Tottenham Hotspur could yet make a late move to sign Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori ‘in the final week’ of the January transfer window.
Journalist Dean Jones has shared an update on Tottenham’s plans for the remaining nine days of the transfer window.
Spurs have managed to do the majority of their business with time to spare this month.
The likes of Eric Dier, Djed Spence, Hugo Lloris, Sergio Reguilon and Ivan Perisic have all headed out the door.
Ange Postecoglou also got his wish as the club swooped to sign a new centre-back, Radu Dragusin, as well as an extra forward in Timo Werner.
According to Jones, this will allow Spurs ‘some room to manoeuvre’ in the final days of the window and Riccardo Calafiori is a player the club likes.

Tottenham could make late move for Calafiori
Speaking to , Jones claims that Calafiori is the type of profile Tottenham will be looking at this year.
“The intent has been on moving players on and that has gone brilliantly over the past couple of weeks, and there are a couple of situations still being dealt with this weekend,” the journalist said.
“It’s interesting because it is going to allow Spurs some room to manoeuvre in the final week of the window and we all know they have a tradition of liking a late deal.
“Calafiori has a profile that would fit with what we have been told to expect from Spurs in terms of emerging talent over the course of this year and it would not surprise me if they look to advance that.”

Tottenham have made a habit of signing talented players from Serie A over the past few years.
The likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero have all excelled since making the move from Italy.
Spurs have already swooped to sign one defender from Serie A this month having snapped up Dragusin from Genoa.
Calafiori is another young defender who has caught the eye in Italy of late, with the 21-year-old racking up 17 league appearances this term.
Signing a centre-back doesn’t feel like a pressing concern for Spurs after the arrival of Dragusin. It’s well-documented that Postecoglou wants to bring in a fresh face in midfield.
But if an ideal opportunity presents itself, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Tottenham move for another defender.
