Tottenham could table £26m player-plus-cash bid for player Oleksandr Zinchenko said is a ‘baller’
Despite the club announcing losses of nearly £90m this week, Tottenham are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer as they prepare for probably Champions League football next term.
Daniel Levy wrote in a statement that the club have suffered huge losses without European competition, but that third-party events will help reduce that figure. There is no risk of possibly breaching PSR rules.
Spurs currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League table. Normally, that would see them miss out on Champions League football and fight for the Europa League trophy. But, the 23-24 season is different.
With the Champions League expanding, there are two more places available and the European coefficient is likely to hand a place to England – largely due to West Ham reaching the Europa League quarter-finals.
Tottenham need strength in depth ahead of next season
Tottenham are still more than capable of reaching fourth, and Harry Redknapp thinks they will still finish in fourth – leapfrogging Aston Villa. But fifth still promises Champions League football for Tottenham.

That means, Ange Postecoglou will require better strength in depth in order to stand a chance of staying in the Champions League after Christmas. Newcastle failed to do so this term, lacking quality in depth.
One player Spurs are desperate to bring in, to add depth in the final third, is Albert Gudmundsson. The Genoa and Iceland star is in the form of his life, shining for club and country – scoring 17 this season.
Player-plus-cash deal for Gudmundsson is great business
A player that Oleksandr Zinchenko described as a “baller”, Gudmundsson is in demand. The biggest clubs in Serie A are keen, the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus. deliver an update on Gudmundsson.
They claim that Spurs could offer a player-plus-cash deal to sign the attacker. A fee between £24m and £26m for the Genoa star, plus Djed Spence – who is currently on loan at Genoa and impressing out wide.
Genoa have an £8m option to sign Spence from Tottenham permanently. Spurs could use that, allowing a permanent move for Spence without Genoa paying a penny – and then offering betwen £24m and £26m.
For a player of his quality, his attacking versatility, his ability to create magic out of nothing – a fee less than £30m is a bargain. Tottenham should be vying to get a deal done, Spence has not future at Spurs.
