Tottenham could sign ‘world-class’ striker who’s ‘above’ Dominic Solanke for less than £50m
Dominic Solanke is not the only striker Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with this summer.
Ange Postecoglou has had a near-perfect pre-season so far. The loss against Bayern Munich was their only defeat, and preparations for the new campaign have been going smoothly.
Tottenham have re-signed Timo Werner on another loan to bolster their attack, while young Archie Gray’s arrival is a big positive for the present and future.
However, Spurs need more players before the window shuts, and a new striker is said to be high on Postecoglou’s transfer wish list.
Solanke is Tottenham’s top target, but he isn’t the only one.
Tottenham can sign Ivan Toney for a discounted fee
Ivan Toney has been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time.
The Brentford striker has entered the final year of his contract, and there is a big chance he will be on the move before the window shuts.
TBR Football exclusively revealed on Thursday that Tottenham are stepping up talks to sign Toney while also pushing to sign Solanke.
Reports on Friday morning have revealed that Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign Solanke for a club-record fee, but Toney is set to be available for a cheaper amount.
have revealed that Tottenham have been handed a boost because Brentford are prepared to lower their demands for Toney.
The report claims that Spurs can now sign the ‘‘ Englishman for less than ‘£50 million’. That’s because Thomas Frank’s side don’t want to lose Toney on a free transfer in 2025.
Solanke has agreed personal terms to join Tottenham – it remains to be seen if Spurs will make an audacious move to sign Toney too now that his price has dropped.

Darren Bent reveals who’s better – Solanke or Toney
It’s clear to see what type of striker Tottenham are looking at.
Both Solanke and Toney are tall, strong forwards who are good in the air, can link up play and are clinical in front of goal. The two English forwards check a lot of boxes for Postecoglou.
Solanke looks like he is the chosen one, but Darren Bent feels the Brentford star is just ‘above’ the Bournemouth man.
He said on : “I know what I’m getting with Ivan Toney.
“Solanke, I’m a big fan of. I think he’s got so much more to his game than just scoring goals. He’s quick, he’s strong, he’s powerful and he scored some unbelievable goals last year.
“I just think Ivan Toney’s just that little bit above.”
