Tottenham could make ‘serious push’ to sign £40m England player after the final of Euro 2024

Tottenham Hotspur have not exactly made a flying start to this summer’s transfer window when it comes to signings.

Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy have done an excellent job so far of offloading some of their unwanted players in north London.

The Lilywhites have terminated the contract of Tanguy Ndombele, allowed the likes of Ryan Sessegnon to leave on a free and sold Joe Rodon to Leeds United.

However, when it comes to signings, only Archie Gray has been brought in as a permanent addition this summer.

But it looks like a move later on in the window may be in the works for a player who has impressed at Euro 2024.

Tottenham growing increasingly likely to make late summer move

One of the main areas which Tottenham had marked out this summer to address was up front following Harry Kane‘s exit last summer.

Richarlison‘s 2023/24 season offered more questions than it answered with the Brazilian unable to show his true form due to injuries.

According to , a late move from Spurs is growing increasingly more likely for the Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Several other clubs like Manchester United, West Ham and even Chelsea have taken a good look at Toney this summer.

However, there is now a belief that Spurs could make a £40m move for the England international towards the end of the window.

Brentford are said to value Toney in the region of £60m, but the Bees may need to consider their options with just one-year left on his deal.

In the report, it is suggested there have been some major concerns by interested clubs over Toney’s attitude.

But his involvement in the England squad this summer is also said to have potentially encouraged clubs like Spurs that may not be an issue.

Toney was selected as one of Gareth Southgate’s three strikers for the tournament but has, naturally, not played a lot of minutes behind Kane and Ollie Watkins.

However, when he did get his opportunity in the round of 16 against Slovakia, he played his part in providing the assist for Kane’s winner.

He also netted his penalty in the shootout against Switzerland.
