Tottenham could be about to sign their next Destiny Udogie
Say what you will about Tottenham over the past few years, but so many of their signings have been big hits.
Indeed, the likes of James Maddison and Micky Van de Ven have had an instant impact this season, while some of their long-term signings are finally bearing fruit.
While the big-name signings will always catch the eye, some of the best work at Spurs over the past few years has been regarding younger signings.
The likes of Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr have been two of Spurs’ best players this season, but when they arrived there was little fanfare.
Indeed, Spurs signed both of these players and immediately loaned them back out in order to aid their development, and to say that this worked a charm would be an understatement.
That extra season of playing first-team football allowed both players to mature in their own time and develop at the right pace, and upon their returns, they were able to hit the ground running.
Recent history shows that these buy-to-loan deals can be brilliant business, and Spurs could be about to do another deal that has a very similar structure.
Indeed, according to in Belgium, Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Antonio Nusa from Club Brugge, and the attacker is reportedly set to be loaned back to Belgium upon the finalisation of this deal.

Nusa will be the third youngster over the past few years to be signed and immediately loaned back, and if he can follow the same sort of path as Udogie or Sarr, it may not be long before he’s a first-team star at Spurs.
Tottenham have got a lot wrong over the past few years, but their handling of these young signings has, by-and-large, been spot on, and Nusa could be the next player to benefit from Tottenham’s long-term planning strategy.
Nusa could just be Spurs’ next Destiny Udogie if he joins the club and continues to develop in Belgium before arriving with a bang in north London this summer.
