Tottenham coaches blown away by how good 25-year-old Spurs man was in training before Palace

Ahead of Crystal Palace’s visit on Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur coaches have been very impressed with one player in training.

Ange Postecoglou has now had a long period to work with his side without a game, and he’ll surely demand a big improvement on the Wolverhampton Wanderers’ display.

In a mixed bag of performances in February, it often felt as if Spurs’ press had lost intensity in games when compared to previous displays.

Journalist Alasdair Gold actually questioned the attitude of a few Tottenham players after the defeat, saying a big change was needed

But with a stronger selection of players expected to be available for Palace’s visit to Tottenham, and two key players back in training, there is reason for optimism.

It seems as if Destiny Udogie will return to Postecoglou’s XI, barring a late set-back.

And whilst Pedro Porro’s spot is a little less certain, fans will probably expect that he’ll be back too.

All that being said, it was a different Tottenham player on the periphery of things who has been impressing in training this week.

Alfie Whiteman amazes Tottenham coaches in training before Crystal Palace

In a uploaded today, the Spurs coaches could be heard loudly praising Alfie Whiteman at 1:50 for a remarkable double save he made.

The 25-year-old appears to be fourth choice under Ange Postecoglou this season, but definitely looked impressive on this occasion.

Brandon Austin was the keeper on the bench against Wolves given Fraser Forster’s injury.

And perhaps that is an area of the squad that will see a big change next season.

Whilst the likes of Whiteman have been impressive in training for Tottenham before Palace, he surely wouldn’t be putting pressure on Forster if fit.

And it really wouldn’t be a surprise if Tottenham looked to add a new number two as well next season, someone to compete with Guglielmo Vicario.

A summer clearout in the position could look well advised, especially with the likes of Aaron Maguire now coming through.

All that being said, Ian Wright has now predicted the score when Tottenham face Palace on Saturday.
