Antonio Conte says 24-year-old won’t be in Tottenham’s squad today

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur will miss today’s Premier League meeting with Leeds.

The Spurs January signing jarred his leg when he slipped on the wet pitch in Wednesday’s 1-0 Premier League defeat to Burnley.

Bentancur played until half time before Conte substituted him, and the Tottenham midfielder subsequently went for a scan on Thursday.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Elland Road, the Spurs manager confirmed that Bentancur won’t be in the squad for the match.

“I don’t think this is a serious problem. I hope to see him in the team very soon but for sure he’s not available.”

The reported that there are fears Bentancur could be on the sidelines for around three weeks.

This could potentially see Bentancur miss crucial games against Everton, Manchester United, Brighton and West Ham.

It’ll come as a blow to Conte, who has been without Oliver Skipp since the loss to Chelsea prior to the winter break.

Bentancur joined Spurs on transfer deadline day in January alongside Dejan Kulusevski.

According to , the deal for Bentancur could cost Tottenham £21.5million in total.

Spurs will be reportedly paying Juve £15.8million up front for Bentancur, with £5.7million due in potential add-ons.

Bentancur penned a four-and-a-half-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, taking him to the summer of 2026.

He has been a regular for Conte, starting in three successive games.
