Tottenham boost as report claims their relationship with £20m target’s club has improved since last year

Tottenham may have received a potential boost in their pursuit of Danny Ings that there is not as much animosity between Spurs and Southampton as there once was.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side seem to have been more heavily linked with Ings than any other side so far this summer.

In fact, it was recently reported that the 28-year-old was Spurs’ top target for this window.

The striker is out of contract next summer and is yet to sign fresh terms on the south coast. , he could cost around £20 million.

However, a spanner was soon thrown in the works.

that relations between the two clubs soured following Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s move to North London last summer.

However, a more encouraging update. They suggest that the animosity has died down somewhat.

They do however, note that that does not mean that Ings will be joining Spurs this summer.

But obviously, if the relationship is better, that will surely help.

Could Tottenham make Southampton an offer for Ings they simply cannot refuse?

It does feel as though the Saints would be more than content to keep Ings for next season.

Replacing him may well cost more than what they may receive should they cash in in this window.

So the onus is on his admirers to surely make Southampton an offer they simply cannot refuse.

Whether Tottenham feel that is worthwhile remains to be seen. Ings may also be reluctant to make the switch.

Spurs are, unfortunately, not in their best position right now. Nuno has a rebuilding job on his hands.

So Ings may see the benefit in holding out one more year and assessing his options as a free agent next summer.
