Tottenham are really about to sell the ‘most clinical finisher in the world’

Thomas Frank is seeing his side at Tottenham Hotspur take shape, with incomings and outgoings aplenty in North London.

Spurs have acquired the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Kota Takai, with the announcement of Bayern Munich’s Joao Palhinha imminent, but they also need to sign a creative spark after the failed pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White.

Then, of course, the outgoings. A new era at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium means that some familiar faces have, or will be, departing the club.

Such is the case with Spurs icon Son Heung-min, who will officially be leaving this summer.

Son Heung-min is the most lethal finisher in football

Son was told he could leave Tottenham, and he will do just that. The Korean will join LAFC in the MLS for a new challenge.

It’s going to be a heartbreaker for Spurs fans, with the 33-year-old an undisputed club legend. He’ll also be a big miss thanks to his ludicrous goalscoring record, which grants him the title of the ‘most clinical finisher in the world’.

This is according to the xG Philosophy, who state that he’s the most lethal forward out there – according to the expected goals stat. They also state he’s outperformed xG by +36% over that period. Remarkable.

He really will go down as one of the most prolific, and greatest, players in Premier League history.

Son’s final record for Tottenham

Son leaves with a bucketload of goals in a white shirt, 173 to be exact. That’s combined with 101 assists, which he acquired in 454 matches.

This places him fourth on the list of Spurs’ all-time record goalscorers – behind only Harry Kane, Jimmy Greaves and Bobby Smith. Legend.
